Fire and Light
Conceptualized by a small group of people in a recycling minded community, Fire & light continues to utilize a once wasted resource and recast it into beautiful glassware.
The process begins with community members recycling their bottles and jars. After they have been delivered from the recycling center to our factory, the glass is cleaned and crushed. Colorants are added and the glass is loaded into the furnaces where it is cooked overnight at 2400 degrees Fahrenheit.
The next morning the now molten glass is ready to be hand ladled and pressed into molds. Timing is critical at this point as the glowing hot glass pieces are quickly placed into 900 degree annealing ovens where they will cool slowly over many hours to achieve optimal hardness and strength. Each piece is then inspected to assure a high standard of quality.
A unique line of beautiful glassware is the result of the combined efforts of many people, including those who choose to make it a part of their personal collection. Subtle variations in color, texture, and shape are the signature of this handmade process. Created for both form and functionality, our glassware is known for its vibrant color and texture.
